A.F.R.O. Highlight of the Month

This monthly recognition honours the A.F.R.O. (Artists for Recreating Opportunities) member who has shown great initiative, accountability and spirit towards life, work and the Nia Centre community.

January 2015 - ROL

ROL is the latest addition to the AFRO team. She is an all-around hip-hop artist; she raps and sings. She has a drive that is on 5th gear, as she pushes out music videos and youtube comedy skits at an unprecedented pace for an upcoming-underground artist. She has also transferred that energy into her production as a team member. She has shown extreme growth in her few months with the team and has made a full-out effort to prove that she belongs and wants to experience everything that the Nia Centre has to offer! So we are congratulating ROL on receiving the AFRO Highlight of the Month for January!

November 2014 - Teddy Osei

Teddy Osei is a rapper and visionary who has displayed his leadership in a variety of capacities within A.F.R.O. What is commendable is that he has been the first in the door and the last out; those characteristics are traits of someone aiming for ‘mastery’. Teddy has made it known to the world that he is ready to take charge of his life and the world is responding. Congratulations Teddy, you’re our Highlight of the Month for December!

October 2014 - Jael De Gale

Jael De Gale is a visual artist, rapper and a very intellectual being. Jael has grown from an outspoken, yet reserved participant to a now tactfully spoken, take-charge kind of a guy! He has contributed a great deal to the synergy of his team and his drawing and graphics abilities have put the team’s branding materials on a cutting-edge level. His live art will leave you speechless, as witnessed recently by the crowd at Toronto Community Housing’s ‘If I Ruled TO - West’ on Nov 8th. Jael shows up when his team needs him and for that, he is recognized as the AFRO – Highlight of the Month.

Elee Stalker is an extremely accountable, hardworking and innovative member of A.F.R.O.  Her leadership traits landed her a summer job at Nia Centre as the Social Media Intern.  This budding star has only begun to embrace her potential and it will be a sight to see once it is truly fulfilled!
