Artist Name: ‘LolaBunz’

Artform: Music

LolaBunz is making big strides in representing female MCs in Toronto, with a goal of being a voice for the unheard.  Born and raised in Jane & Finch, LolaBunz brings a different approach to the game, through her own unique style and vocal ability. At 23 years of age, LolaBunz has already performed on various stages and at some of the City’s largest urban music festivals, including 106 & York.  In 2009, she performed on-stage with Hip Hop legend KRS-One during Toronto’s “Week Without Violence”.

Also an accomplished spoken word artist, actress and community leader, LolaBunz has been published in “Toronto Young Poets” and “Young Voices Magazine”. In 2009 she was awarded 2nd place at the annual poetry slam at the Drake Hotel, and 3rd place at the African Canadian Children’s Literary Festival’s youth poetry slam.  LolaBunz is a true community leader, speaking at several conferences and high-schools in Toronto and across Ontario, facilitating workshops and organizing youth-led initiatives.

LolaBunz’s passion for uplifting her community provides much of the fuel for her musical creation, and she uses her music, and strong words to inspire other youth and bring attention to issues impacting her community.
