Teaching the fundamentals of lighting, shooting, composition, darkroom processing, and more!

 

Nia Centre & Gallery 44‘s Film Photography Program is for young people ages 16-25 who have a passion for photography. Ten young people will be selected to participate in the 2015 program, which runs throughout the months of April and May.

 

Overview of the Program:

 

The OUTREACH Program consisting of 6 workshops (4 hours each), which will run Monday and Wednesday (4:30-8:30 pm) from April 20- May 6, 2015. The workshops are designed to teach each participant the photographic skills necessary for exploring their own artistic pursuits. At the end of the program, each participant will produce one print that reflects the theme "WITNESS" that will be included in an OUTREACH group exhibition at Gallery 44 and may be included in the gallery's zine publication.  

 

Topics covered in the program include:

 

  • Introduction to darkroom photography/studio

  • Outdoor exploration

  • Artificial lighting

  • Critique of works

  • Printing

Nia Centre for the Arts is a member of AVNU, a collaborative of 9 community organizations based in Toronto.
